Start slower than you think you need. Most people speak 130 to 160 words a minute, which is around speed 4. Break long paragraphs into short ones, since a blank line gives you a natural pause. If you lose your place, pause and scroll back with your mouse wheel or trackpad. Resizing the window or going full screen keeps your place.
Space plays and pauses. ↑ and ↓ change the speed. R restarts from the top. M mirrors the text. F shows it full screen, and Esc comes back.
