Privacy policy
The short version: what you type into Type It Big is saved in your own browser, not on our servers. We don't have accounts. The site is paid for with ads, and the companies that provide those ads use cookies, which this page explains.
What stays on your device
Your sign messages, timer settings, scores, teleprompter scripts and display choices are saved in your browser's storage on this device, so they're still there when you come back. They are not sent to us. They stay until you remove them: the sign maker's Clear button removes your saved message, and clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes everything.
If your browser blocks storage (some private windows do), the tools still work but nothing is kept after you leave.
Shared links
When you use Copy link on the sign maker, your message and sign settings are written into the link after the # symbol. Browsers don't send that part of a link to a website's server when the page loads, so it isn't part of our hosting provider's request logs.
Anyone you give the link to can read the message, and so can any app or service you paste it into. Only share links for messages you're comfortable with others seeing.
Older links that put the message after a ? still open. That part of a link is sent to our hosting provider like any web address. Links copied from the site today use the # format.
Pages opened from a shared-message link don't show ads or load advertising scripts.
Information our hosting provider processes
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We use this only in aggregate, for things like keeping the site running and fast.
Analytics
We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which tools people use. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't track you across other websites.
Advertising and cookies
We may show ads through Google AdSense. Ads appear around the tools, never on the full-screen display.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google in Google's My Ad Center, and learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- You can opt out of personalized ads from many other vendors at aboutads.info, or at youronlinechoices.eu if you're in Europe.
Visitors in Europe, the UK and Switzerland
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you'll be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time through the privacy options link shown on the site.
US state privacy rights
Some US states, including California, give residents the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. Where this applies, you can opt out through the privacy options link shown on the site, or by using a browser setting such as Global Privacy Control.
Children
Type It Big is a general-audience site and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Teachers are welcome to use the tools in class.
